Al-Mustafa University and University of Qom Sign Cooperation Agreement

A comprehensive cooperation agreement has been signed between Al-Mustafa International University and the University of Qom during a joint meeting attended by the heads of both academic institutions.

Hawzah News Agency- Hujjat al-Islam Ali Abbasi opened the meeting by thanking the president of the University of Qom and his deputies, before delivering an introduction to Al-Mustafa International University.

The president of Al-Mustafa University pointed to the Islamic Revolution's 50-year history of confronting waves of Western modernity, stating that Iran now stands in direct confrontation with the center of this empire. He described the current period as a major civilizational transition that demands meticulous documentation to be presented as a historical model for future generations.

Hujjat al-Islam Abbasi, recalling remarks by advisers to the US president suggesting that Alexander's mission in Iran had remained unfinished, stressed that Western colonialism views Islamic civilization as its sole serious rival on the global stage and, driven by an exclusivist mindset, seeks to obliterate any independent model. Nevertheless, he affirmed that due to the vigilance of the people and the model of conscious defense of identity, the fate of this era will differ from that of the Mongol and Alexandrian invasions.

The member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts criticized currents that, at certain junctures, pinned their hopes on dialogue diplomacy with hegemonic powers instead of grasping historical realities, stating: "The colonial nature of Western civilization cannot be altered through the logic of negotiation. Our true power lies not in sheer physical capability, but in the faith and conviction that multiply the strength of our forces many times over."

The president of Al-Mustafa University went on to highlight the state of science in the country prior to the Islamic Revolution, noting: "In that era, our country was simply not counted among the players in scientific discourse and advancement. Today, however, according to global science metric centers, Iran has climbed to 18th place worldwide in scientific output. In contrast to certain neighboring countries that borrow or purchase scientists and athletes, Iran's scientific progress is indigenous, authentic, and by no means borrowed."

Elsewhere in his address, Hujjat al-Islam Abbasi elaborated on the international capacities of Al-Mustafa University, stating that the institution currently hosts tens of thousands of students from 130 different nationalities, 97 percent of whom are non-Iranian. He described it as one of the world's most diverse academic centers in terms of nationality, with students engaged in both on-campus and virtual education under the academic systems of the Ministry of Science and the seminary level frameworks.

The president of Al-Mustafa University concluded by commending the progress of the University of Qom, describing it as an institution of relative advantage and appeal for international students owing to its ethical and scholarly atmosphere. He stressed the necessity of operationalizing the agreement between Al-Mustafa University and the University of Qom across educational, research, and cultural domains.

Under the terms of this agreement, Al-Mustafa International University and the University of Qom will cooperate in various scientific, educational, and cultural fields.
